Terrier Match 2008

SECOND ANNUAL TERRIER MATCII
2nd NOVEMBER 2008 WEEDON VILLAGF HALL

This was a most enjoyable event now in its second year and hopefully becoming a regular event for many years to come. The hosts for 2008 were the Kerry Blue Association, with Pat Munro and her team putting on a very professional match. The inclusion of Breed Club tables, a small agility course, hot and cold food and lots of friendly banter when a team member got through to the next round. (The Irish Terrier Team being the loudest of course).

Our team of representatives for 2008 consisted of Mary Ruffles with Ruffinar Bronzed Ballerina, Carol Bamsey with Holbam Tierney, Ashley Wooding with Woodraiths Golden Buttercup, David Brown with Sujoncla Ochinee, Jan Nevill with Montelle Lord Montague and Susan Seabridge with Kerrykeel Wounded Knee at Sujoncla.

Mary Ruffle’s won all her heats and went on to win 4th in match in the adult group.

David Brown won his heats and went on to win 3rd in match in the puppy group.

During the lunch break a trimming demonstration was given on Irish and Airedales, with Kevin Anderson in the hot seat for the Irish and David Brand for the Airedales. Both are very professional groomers and their demonstrations concentrated on the heads and expressions. Two breeds of terriers with very different expressions. Both demonstrations proved very interesting with many questions from knowledge seeking terrier folk.

The judges for the match were Kathy Clark O’Neil a Kerry Blue specialist and Ivor Hemmings from the Irish Terrier breed. Winning for the second year running was the Kerry Blue team, followed by the Fox Terriers, the Lakeland Terriers, the Irish Terriers and the Airedale Terriers. Best Puppy in match also went to a Kerry Blue.
